These distinctive boxes, dating back to the early 1900s, feature the early "SHELL" logo and scallop shell mark. One of the boxes has a hinged lid. 'MOTOR SPIRIT' was a brand of Shell gasoline at the time, and 'RISING SUN PETROLEUM CO., LTD.' was Shell's early corporate name in Japan. These boxes have been preserved in the storage of an old family that operated a lubricant shipping business from the Taisho to early Showa period."
